When you bought that puppy from that breeder you were shown the parent's papers, most probably one of Ken Moran's Single Dog Registration Certificates.
On the back of the certificate it said this certificate represented a purebred dog, like this one below:
This document would lead any buyer to believe that they are registering their purebred dog with a genuine registry of purebred dogs, and for a fee of $25.00 your purebred dog will be added to this register.
Entries of unknown lineage and missing pedigree details direct from Ken Moran's computer and the original books…
The following are taken from a spreadsheet sent by Ken Moran to the APBTA and photocopies taken directly from the original books. The original books were 19 in number and contained entries for 400 dogs each.
This is the reason Pit Bull owners in New Zealand are unable to get their 6 generation certificates from Ken Moran's Club. Not bothering to enter details of dogs into his books made it impossible to trace
the lineage of many dogs, while providing 'Pedigree' certificates for dogs of unknown lineage is plain Fraud.
Bearing in mind the following, owners/breeders would do well to consider the wisdom of paying Ken
Moran to obtain paperwork which is known to be at best unreliable and at worst fraudulent.
Prior to the situation which led to the APBTA Inc. declaring 'war'
on the NZAPBT Club and Registry*, the following comments were made by Ken Moran in regard to
the state of the books and the fallout that has resulted:
When told that more requests for 6 generation pedigrees were turned down than satisfied, the response
was "We could just make them up couldn't we? People wouldn't know".
When told fabricating pedigrees would wreck the bloodlines in this country overnight, the response was
"They're already f****d"
When told that if that's true it doesn't bode well for the future of the dogs in this country, the response
was "Frankly, I couldn't give a f**k for the dogs"
When told in that case he'd better hope no-one finds out what a shambles the books are in, the
response was "They'll never figure it out, these people are THICK!"
The 2004 National Show saw Ken Moran provide 'pedigree' paperwork for a breeder (Lisa Galvin)
who was then permitted to take her litter of unknown paternity and sell them as purebred Pit Bull Terriers.
Go to RCC & Galvin for more on Ms Galvin and how Rotorua District Council added Amstaffs to their
‘dangerous dog’ schedule with her help.
Ken Moran might be cheeky enough to pretend that registering a dog as a Pit Bull on the basis of photos
or his opinion is standard practice for any reputable registry, but we can assure you that it is not.
It is astounding that he is still asking $5 per pup or $25 per dog over 6 months of age to provide paperwork
that registries and Dogmen and women the world over now realise isn't worth the paper it's written on.
It can only be hoped that no-one is silly enough to pay Ken a cent to be admitted to his fraudulent registry
or give him any information regarding their Pit Bull Terrier.
